BACKGROUND
Forty years of wide-ranging photographic experience provides me with a diverse set of tools for teaching photography to beginners, serious amateurs and semi-pros regardless of their specific photographic interest. My experience in a nutshell: High school yearbook photographer at Milwaukee Tech H.S.; studied Commercial Art and Photography at Milwaukee Area Technical College; processed film at Milwaukee's premier professional photo lab, way back in the 80s; years and years of B&W processing in school and in my home darkrooms; photographed shoes, jewelry and makeup for Shopko advertisements; since 1988 freelance work has included assisting large product photographer, doing studio lighting of everything from Harley Davidson motorcycles to giant Case farm tractors and school buses; photographing Wisconsin sports and news for Reuters News Service, for publication in newspapers worldwide; over 20 years of assignments in 35 states and 3 continents for Sports Illustrated magazine, lighting arenas and athlete portrait sessions, as well as setting up complex systems of remotely controlled cameras at events including NCAA Final Four Tournaments, NBA Finals and Olympics; photographed weddings and portraits for over 30 years; covered 4 presidential elections for TIME Magazine; photographing products and food for a variety of commercial clients; and my greatest passion - making photographs of nature and wildlife subjects, which have been published in magazines such as Ducks Unlimited, Wisconsin Trails, Birds & Blooms, as well as calendars and other printed products; taught digital photography at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
