This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for anyone who has the desire to create salvage metal art. If you are a multi-discipline artist, or artisan couple, into photography, painting, sculpting - all the better. If you love nature, waterfalls, outdoor adventure, kayaking, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, fishing, and hunting, the surrounding area has it all. We have enjoyed sharing this lake and land with over 90 species of birds and mammals (the list below), and a wide variety of reptiles and amphibians. We have an extended family of “pet” deer, who visit daily.
This spacious home features an open concept kitchen and living room with views of the lake. The kitchen has an island for food prep and seating. The kitchen table is set in the corner with two windows and a sliding glass door which opens onto a natural fieldstone patio. The range hood vents to the outside. The living room features a large copper clad shelf set in a south facing window, with adjustable grow light above, for starting spring seedlings or growing houseplants year-round.
The photo studio (or ultimate recreation room) is almost 1000 square feet, with a 16.5-foot-high ceiling, and has an adjoining billiards room. There is a full-size basketball hoop that can be cranked lower for young children to play on. There is a photo pit in the studio floor, that is 4X5 feet wide and four-feet-deep, for photographing subjects placed on the floor, eye-to-eye. It doubles as a cool place to store flower bulbs for the winter. There is an opening on the second floor that looks down into the studio at a 45-degree angle, and two portals in the ceiling to shoot straight down. There are five pipes attached to the ceiling to facilitate hanging lights or backgrounds anywhere in the room. A large closet holds 4X8 foot reflector panels and the like. The ten-foot-tall entertainment center features speaker wire that runs to four rooms; studio, garage, office, and the living room. It is also wired with coaxial cable, for satellite T.V., and also a Sirius-XM antenna. A special studio feature we have enjoyed over the years are two large picture windows, stacked one above the other, for viewing wildlife in the yard, on the lake, and flying by.
The large office has excellent views, south and west, of the lake wrapping around the home. The room is accessed through a pocket door, from the billiards room, or by a patio door, coming from the flower gardens. The office and studio have CAT-5 cable run between them.
The master bedroom features a combination whirlpool/ air infusion bathtub that is supplied with endless hot water from a Rinnai tankless water heater. The tub-for-two has a view of the lake. We rarely miss a morning of coffee in the tub. For convenience, there is a full-size shower in the adjoined master bathroom, as well as another full bath downstairs.
The office, billiards room, studio, and garage are aligned for a work flow that perfectly suited our needs: printing in the office; a varnished sheet of plywood on the pool table for matte cutting; large surfaces in the studio for framing, as well as creating a wide variety of metal and Steampunk artworks. An 8X8 foot rollup door separates the clean work in the studio from the cutting and drilling in the garage work shop. There is a 7X11 foot unfinished darkroom, with water and drain supplied.
Across the driveway is the welding shop and The Compound, where tons of hand-picked salvage metal pieces wait patiently to be up-scaled into timeless pieces of art. There are several sheds and lean-tos for protecting tools and supplies. There is a tailgate-high dock for easy loading onto a pickup truck.
The garage, with its 10-foot-high ceiling, was designed to hold large quantities of tools, recreation equipment and other supplies. On one side, a massive floor-to-ceiling shelving unit is 13 feet wide and 4 feet deep. On the other side, above the work surfaces, 20 feet of high shelving is accessed by a rolling library ladder. In the corner of the garage are two storage closets, with open deck on top. One closet has insulated walls and ceiling; in case you want to shut the place down for the winter, yet keep fluids from freezing with a space heater. The garage has an LP heater hanging from the ceiling. There is hot and cold running water and a floor drain. The power garage door is 10 feet wide by 9 feet high.

Marinette County and the nearby Upper Peninsula are nothing short of spectacular for the outdoor adventurer. Miles from homestead provided.
Marinette County boasts 230,000 acres of public county forestland, most of which surround our property to the north, east, and west, with the closest parcels just 5 miles away. You can get on your snowmobile or ATV at home, and ride the town roads to connect with 300 miles of trails. The county is also the Waterfall Capital of Wisconsin, with more than a dozen cascades, on four beautiful rivers, all within a half hour drive. Our studio is named after the nearby Pike River, a state designated Wild River.
Explore Michigan’s magnificent Upper Peninsula, which is only 11 miles away. This is your gateway to Lake Superior and Lake Michigan, hundreds of waterfalls, excellent downhill skiing, and more backcountry than you can explore in a lifetime.
This rare homestead is 80 miles north of Green Bay, and about 45 miles from the City of Marinette, also on Lake Michigan’s Green Bay. Iron Mountain, Michigan is a half hour north. The drive to Milwaukee is a little over 3 hours, with Chicago another 90 minutes further south.

THE METAL! Click on images to enlarge.
If you have ever dreamed of making the coolest salvage art, here is your plug-and-play opportunity. Move in today, start creating art tomorrow. Over the past dozen years, we probably acquired near a million hand-picked artifacts, old and new, and there are at least a couple hundred thousand left. We regularly scoured eight area scrapyards, attended auctions, dropped in on farmers, and hit hundreds of yard sales, to put together an unbelievable collection of metal art supplies. Just check out the photos below!
These art supplies, our welding equipment, our tools, as well as shelves and work tables in the welding shop and in the home, are not included in the asking price of the home and land, but are all separate negotiables, in whole or in part.
Whether you desire to make abstracts, garden art, creatures, mini rat rods and choppers, Steampunk, or anything in between, you’ll find useful parts everywhere you look. We spent the end of October and the first two weeks of November cleaning leaves off shelves and arranging inventory for these photographs, but were not able to get everything photographed before the first snow came. That is right – there is more than illustrated here! We have included a few snow-covered piles, just to tease your imagination further.
All pictures that have deer present were taken over the years, and are not representative of the current inventory of metal. The doe in all these images is Daisy, our alpha female. The fawns are hers, over the years. Daisy is our dear junkyard deer – our dogs prefer the couch life.
So come to the woods of northeast Wisconsin, and live in peace and quiet (except for your grinder) at the end of a 600 foot driveway, on a dead end road, surrounded by wild trout streams, flowing through thousands of acres of nearby public lands. You will not regret it! You don’t know how to weld, but you always wanted to learn? Lessons from us are also an option.
Please note: Many shelves are photographed more than once, from different angles, from both sides, and with different perspective lenses. This was not done to exaggerate the abundance of art supplies – exaggeration is not required – this truly is a gold mine. Different angles simply allow you to see individual pieces from multiple sides, for a better evaluation. You really must see it all in person to truly appreciate the magnitude and potential of this collection.
Please also note: We are still in production, and making art daily, so some items shown here may already be gone, or may get used on a project tomorrow – so don’t delay.
