GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Workshop and Class Fees
Fees for day classes or photography courses held at Pike River Studio (PRS) are due in full when registering. For weekend or longer workshops, a deposit of half the tuition is required to reserve a spot. The balance is due 30 days before the workshop start date. We strive to keep the number of participants low, to assure each student individual attention. Therefore, spots for classes and workshops can only be reserved with payment.
Student Cancellation Policy for Classes at Pike River Studio
Tuition is fully refunded if you cancel 7 days before the start of class. If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of a class we reserve the right to issue a refund of 75% of the tuition.
Student Cancellation Policy for Wilderness Workshops
A 50% deposit is required to hold your reservation, with the balance due 30 days prior to the workshop start date. Tuition fully refundable if you cancel at least 30 days before the workshop start. If you cancel between 14 and 30 days from the workshop start, you will be issued a 1/2 refund. If you cancel with less than 14 days from the start of the workshop, no refund will be issued. (At the sole discretion of Pike River Studio this policy can be revised if cancellation is due to real and verifiable medical or family emergency.)
Transportation
Unless otherwise stated in a specific class or workshop description, transportation to PRS, or other designated meeting locations, is the responsibility of the student. When practical, students may be asked to carpool from one shoot location to the next.
Lodging
Lodging arrangements and payments are the sole responsibility of the student. See workshop listings for specifics about lodging for that event. Make a reservation as early as possible, to assure availability in close proximity to workshop location. In some remote locations lodging rooms are sparse.
For any class or workshop that is held at PRS, or in the immediate area, participants are welcome to camp for free on our land, if they bring their own camping equipment. You will have access to indoor bathroom and shower. Call for details.
Meals
Any meals served at PRS or at a workshop campsite are included in the fee. All restaurant meals are the responsibility of the student. We do our best to serve a wide variety of quality food, to satisfy varied tastes, but we cannot guarantee accommodation of special diet needs. Please contact us directly with special needs, and we will try to be as helpful as possible.
Other Considerations
If you are participating in an outdoor wildlife or landscape photography class or workshop you should be in good health and able to move about on uneven, rocky terrain. Most activities should be within the ability of anyone in moderate to good condition. Proper attire is recommended, especially sturdy boots or hiking shoes with gripping soles. Weather, as you know, is always unpredictable, and students should always pack for a wide range of temperatures, and precipitation scenarios. Including ways to protect equipment from rain.
Any outdoor activity in wild places comes with certain hazards: dangerous terrain, inclement weather, wild animals and other unforeseen dangers, so participants are asked to sign a standard liability waiver prior to the start of the workshop.
Workshop and Class Cancelation
We reserve the right to cancel, or when practical, to reschedule classes and workshops, due to under enrollment, or for any other unforeseen circumstance. In the event of cancellation, or rescheduling to a time and date that does not fit the student’s schedule, a full refund of deposit and tuition will be made to the student.
